Aldeia Juerana Tribe

Incubated projects  |  2024

The ethnotourism project in the village of Juerana was created with the aim of propagating the Pataxó culture in a way that breaks stereotypes, as well as providing economic autonomy to the young people involved.

The initiative was driven by cacica, but is led and managed by 33 local youth.

The company started at a very early stage, but they were already active in tourism, having led some excursions that included hiking trails, food, sale of handicrafts and cultural performances.

The big difference is that they have coexisted with the Afro culture since the founding of the village and therefore show aspects of both cultures and define themselves as Afro-indigenous.

One of the 20 companies participating in the second edition of the Tourism + Sustainability Project, a partnership between Futuri and Conservation International (CI) Brazil, with execution by Raízes.
