Casa do Frufru
Casa do Frufru is a collective of seamstresses who have for quite some time been making the crafts commonly known as “frufru”, a traditional practice of the city of Periquito, in the Vale do Rio Doce.
The Collective is the result of a project carried out from 2018 to 2021, along with partner Vale and executed by Raízes Sustainable Development.
The project contributed to the formation of the collective, as well as art technique improvement, name and creation of the brand.
A full collection was also created, and seed funding was applied in order to improve workspaces, purchase machinery and raw material.
In addition to technical improvement, women also participated in training on entrepreneurship focusing on female empowerment.
The collective is based in the municipality of Periquito, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and women members produce and market within the municipality and through their Instagram account @Casadofrufru.
