The Oficina Gente de Fibra (People of Fiber) – Co creating the Future is a strategic initiative, the result of a partnership between the Mariense Handicraft Cooperative, SEBRAE MG and the Municipality of Maria da Fé. After 26 years of history and operation, the project aims  to strengthen and reposition the organization for the future.

Stage I (2024) focused on Resource Mapping, Business Management, Production and Market, establishing an alignment of local and territorial expectations. Based on the pillars of products, people and territory, the initiative’s main objectives are to improve governance, create new products, expand the national market and develop a Future Vision Plan.

Stage II (2025) continues this work, focusing on a new time for the cooperative. Its focus is on Market Repositioning through the creation of a New Collection and a New Brand that capture the group’s trajectory and its vision of the future. This cycle aims to solidify the business and the production group, ensuring the sustainability and growth of Oficina Gente de Fibra.

The pillars of the project are: products, people and territory, and its strategic objectives are:

° Strengthening of governance and the production group;

° Strategic repositioning of the organization;

° Strengthening of the business and its management;

° Creation of new products;

° Expansion of the national market;

° Development Plan to achieve the Vision of the Future.

 

 

Positive impact

Stage I 2024 – Mapping of the Cooperative’s Internal and External Resources,
Business Management, Production and Market

After 26 years of creation and in full operation, the Mriense Handicraft Cooperative, of which the central productive nucleus is the Oficina Gente de Fibra and SEBRAEMG, propose the strengthening of the organization towards the future, based on an alignment of local expectations as a way to ensure that the project shares a common vision that makes sense for the group served,  and the territory in partnership with the Municipality of Maria da Fé.

 

Stage II 2025 – New Collection and Brand and Market Repositioning

Stage II was focused on continuing the activities carried out previously, considering the pillars of the base contract: strengthening governance and production groups, repositioning the strategy, strengthening the business and the creation of new handicraft products for the Oficina Gente de Fibra, in Maria da Fé.

The proposal considers the repositioning of the Oficina Gente de Fibra towards the future, based on the main demands verified in the previous cycle, aiming to ensure a new time towards the future of the Cooperativa Mariense de Artesanato and the Oficina Gente de Fibra with the creation of a new collection, market expansion and a new brand that reflects the trajectory and vision of the future of the group.

  • Accumulated revenue 2023: R$ 107,513.62 (monthly average R$ 13,439.20)
  • Accumulated revenue 2024: R$ 110,844.78 (+3.1%)
  • Accumulated revenue 2025: R$ 117,907.63 (+6.4%)
  • Total growth (2023–2025): +9.7% 25 new pieces launched, in 42 variations (size/color).
  • 130 pieces sold in 12 orders at the ABUP launch, including 7 new retailers (first purchase) and 5 repeat customers.
  • Increase in Instagram followers after communication workshops: 3,018 → 4,111 (+1,093 / +36.2%).
  • Production of Affective Cartography and Timeline documents.
  • New Brand, Photographs, and Catalog, with over 30 brand options developed throughout the process.
  • Selection of the new brand group, with 6 guidelines in the manual: essence, versions, protection area, color palette, typography, embellishments/textures.
  • Over 200 original images produced for the photo bank. Creation of a complete institutional catalog.
  • Creation of a unified communication base consolidating narrative, image, and visual identity.
  • Production of Business Modeling and Canvas, Strategic Planning, and Action Plan with 49 steps to be carried out by the group.
