Escola do Mar (School of the Sea)
The School of the Sea initiative was developed to contribute to the emancipation of young women in the far south of Bahia, through free training for the nature tourism job market and other associated sectors. The project was created by Associação Move, in partnership with the Environmental Education Research and Extension Center of the Federal University of Bahia and sponsored by the Grupo Boticário Foundation.
Raízes is contributing to the project voluntarily, through the work of three professionals responsible for content and training throughout this period, offering thematic workshops in three main areas: nature tourism, conservation of socio-biodiversity, and female empowerment.
The main aim of the actions is to increase women’s emancipation and boost nature conservation – which in the Abrolhos National Marine Park region can and should happen in conjunction with tourism development.
With this partnership, we hope to support the strengthening of actions that promote the conservation of socio-biodiversity and the empowerment of girls and women in the Far South of Bahia.
