Ecological and Economic Zoning (EEZ) is an excellent tool for supporting the intelligent and sustainable development of territories. In 2006, “Brandt” Meio Ambiente (Environment) was hired by the municipalities of Caeté and Sabará in Minas Gerais to carry out EEZs in the towns. To innovate and improve the tool, Brandt hired a pair of consultants to create specific guidelines for the development of tourism and the preservation of heritage in these territories with great potential and also weaknesses.
Identifying and mapping where tourism should be stimulated or inhibited, where there is greater or lesser prioritization for the protection of tangible and intangible heritage were some important functions of this work.
