ISP em Turismo

This book, the result of pioneering research, reveals the state of the art of Private Social Investment (PSI) in Brazilian tourism, an area traditionally invisible in discussions about the sector. While PSI is often directed at areas such as education, the environment, and health, this study investigates how it can positively influence tourism, a sector crucial to Brazil’s economy and cultural identity.

Tourism is more than just an economic activity: it shapes jobs, communities, and the environment. According to the World Tourism Organization, 1 in 10 jobs in the world is generated by this sector. Tourism’s impact permeates not only large companies but also small local businesses, from gas stations to individual artisans, creating an extensive network of socio-economic and cultural influence.

The research highlights the urgent need to direct investments consciously and strategically, calling on companies, institutes, and foundations to recognize their vital role in the responsible development of tourism. The document provides valuable data and proposes a reflection on how these investments can contribute to reducing social and environmental inequalities and injustices.

The book is an initiative of Raízes 360, which encompasses the consultancies Raízes Sustainable Development and Turismo 360, with the academic partnership of UnB’s Laboratory for Tourism and Sustainability Studies (LETS) and the promotional partnership of Turismo Spot. The study is institutionally supported by the Group of Business Institutes and Foundations (GIFE), by ponteAponte, and by the Grupo Boticário Foundation, with gold sponsorship from the Bancorbrás Institute for participation in events.
