Berçário das Tartarugas

The Turtle Hatchery initiative is a project carried out in a sea grouper farm owned by Prime Seafood, an endangered species.

It has the support of the Alcobaça City Council, through the Municipal Department of Environment, and a partnership with Prime Seafood, which has created a hatchery to incubate sea turtle eggs.

In the 2023/2024 season, eight nests of different turtle species were moved and incubated, where more than 500 hatchlings were recorded and visited by more than 1,000 people, mostly children.
